Why did the alarm on my trap suddenly disappear?

Modified on Wed, 23 Apr at 1:48 PM

When the temperature is low and the trap is triggered, the battery voltage may temporarily drop below the threshold, causing an alarm. However, subsequent measurements may show normal voltage again, making the alarm disappear.

Observing Aurotrap alarms

If a trap triggers an alarm that later disappears, it may be due to a temporary drop in battery voltage below 6.80V when the trap is activated. As the battery stabilizes, the voltage can return to normal levels (≥ 6.80V), causing the alarm to clear.

This phenomenon can occur in various conditions, but mostly happens in cold weather conditions. Or when the trap is close to a new battery status threshold, such as 25% or 50% battery

Why does this happen, and why did the alarm disappear?

When the trap’s mechanism is activated, as recorded in the Aurotrap manager under the trap’s Rodent Events, showed as shots are fired +1 or type =crosshair the trap consumes energy, leading to a temporary voltage drop.

If the temperature is low, the voltage may momentarily fall below the alarm threshold but later stabilize above it.

The image and graph below illustrates:

  • Observations (Eye - Blue): Consistently at 7.30V, regardless of temperature (4-5°C).

  • Kills (Crosshair - Red): Lower voltage; at 1°C, the voltage is around 6.79-6.80V, whereas at 5-6°C, it stabilizes at 6.86-6.90V.
